Every heated product page in this range states the same washing routine, and it is short enough to memorise: the controller cord detaches, the blanket goes in on a gentle cycle, it air-dries or tumbles on low, and it does not get plugged back in until it is completely dry. What follows is that routine with the reasons attached, because the reasons are what stop people improvising.
The cord unplugs at the blanket end. This is the whole basis of machine washing here, the fabric and the wire inside it are washable, the electronics in the controller are not.
Feel for the connector before you pull. It is a push fit with a collar on most units in this range. It comes away with a straight pull, not a twist. If it resists, you are pulling the wrong part.
Gentle, short, and not crowded. A heated blanket packed into a small drum with three towels gets folded hard against itself while it spins, and hard creasing along the same line is the one mechanical thing you can control.
The 62″×84″ twin is a big item for a domestic machine. If yours is under about 7 kg, wash the twin on its own.
Air-drying is slower and kinder. If you tumble, use low heat and take it out slightly damp, then finish it flat.
Faux fur and sherpa both mat when they are dried hot. That is a cosmetic loss rather than an electrical one, but it is permanent, and on the 380 gsm faux fur it is the whole reason people bought it.

Completely dry means the seams and the corners too, not just the middle. Give it longer than you think, and if the connector housing feels cool and damp against the back of your hand, it is not ready.
Before you plug the controller back in, look at three things. It is faster to do than to read.
This is a look, not a diagnosis. If the controller does not respond after a wash, that is a return conversation, not a repair one.
As often as you would wash a throw you sit under, which for most people is every few weeks. The routine is not fragile: it is the same four steps every time, and the only variable is how patient you are on step four.
Uneven warmth is not a laundry problem. Heat distribution on the twin runs 427 positive against 183 negative, and where a wire runs is where the heat is. The separate guide on that explains the geometry. Washing changes nothing about it in either direction.
A blanket that has stopped heating altogether is also not a laundry problem. If it happened after a wash it is worth checking the connector and letting it dry another day, but if it stays dead, the useful clock is the return window rather than a troubleshooting tree.
